Remember that the cheapest film is not the best – a film that is only 25 microns thick requires painstaking production with the strictest quality control to guarantee silage bale protection. 2- How do I use the film?
The best way to use stretch film is to read the instructions in each box. These will ensure you get the maximum bale protection. 3- How many layers of film should I wrap round the bales?
It is generally recommended that you put 6 layers of film over the entire bale in order to achieve a high level of protection and perfect fermentation.
If you are using film that is 750 mm wide, you need to calculate the number of layers required to cover the entire bale, making sure that no grass is visible (with a 50% overlap between layers of film).
Add 1 to this number, multiply by 3 and you have the number of layers you need to wrap round the bale.

4- Why does the market dictate a minimum of 6 layers of film over the entire bale?
To increase silage protection. Especially in the case of grass bales with a high content level of dry material that are going to be stored for more than 8 months, or when the bales are going to be exposed to harsh weather conditions such as strong winds or heavy rain. In short, a minimum of 6 layers is recommended to reduce loss during fermentation to a minimum (less than 0.5%). Remember that the cost of adding a couple more layers of film will be more than compensated for by the advantages you gain from producing higher quality silage.

5- Why does Aspla use Dowlex to make its stretch film?
